Bhubaneswar: Two-day State Level Annual Flower Show 2020 will be held from tomorrow in the premise of Botanic Garden of Regional Plant Resources Centre (RPRC) here in the Capital City.
The Flower Show is organized by the Regional Plant Resource Centre and Plant Lovers’ Association (PLA), Bhubaneswar on Second Saturday and Sunday of January every year since 2005.
Rajiv Kumar, Chief Executive of RPRC held a review of the arrangements for the massive show of flowers here on 10 January.
According to sources, this year more participation is registered as there is craze for flowers and the flower Show, which is gaining currency among the Gen Z.
This year more than 50 Organizations are participating in the flower Show, said Pratap Chandra Panda, Principal Scientist, RPRC.
Organizations from several places of the State are joining in the flower Show.
There are 16 Covered Stalls and 30 Open Stalls having beautiful flowers to show the general public.
Sale of flowers and plants are organized and plant and flower lovers will buy large quantity of flowers from the show, said Dr.Panda, Principal Scientist, RPRC.
“This Flower Show attracts more than two lakh enthusiasts during next two days, and there will hardly any place to put one’s feet here”, said Kshirod Patnaik, President Plant Lovers’ Association.
Mr.Patnaik is instrumental in starting the Flower Show in Bhubaneswar since 80’s and now it has turned out to be a ‘Movement’, said a young floweriest.
While there will be several competitions to take place during the two days’ long jamboree and lot of participants are registering themselves.
There is Cut Flower, Ikebana, Garden and Drawing competitions and winners will be honored during the show.
Both Private and Public Gardens are participating in the competitions.
This year Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has extended its support for the Show, which was earlier supported by NALCO.ν
