Schools To Reopen For Class X & XII Students In Odisha From Jan 8

Bhubaneswar: In a major decision, the Odisha Government today decided to reopen schools for Class X and XII students from next Friday (January 8).

The School & Mass Education Department took the decision to prepare students for appearing in the annual examinations conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) and Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) and to prepare them to partake in various all India level competitive exams, said an official press release issued here today.

Classes for students who would be appearing in the annual examination of the BSE will commence from January 8 and continue till April 26 and for those appearing the annual examination of the CHSE will commence from January 8 and continue till April 28, the release stated.

Practical exam of Class X students will be conducted from April 27 to May 2 while that of Class XII students will be conducted from April 29 to May 14, the release added.

The annual High School Certificate (HSC) conducted by the BSE for Class X students will be held from May 3 till May 15, while the annual Class XII exam conducted by the CHSE will be held from May 15 till June 11.

As per the aforementioned schedule, 100 days of classroom teaching will be held for Class X & XII students which include Saturdays and Sundays.

A detailed guideline/SOP (standard operating procedure) has been issued for the conduct of classes.
The SOP/guideline for reopening of schools will be applicable to all Government, Government-aided, and private educational institutions affiliated to CBSE/ICSE and other Boards.

Guideline issued by the Health & Family Welfare Department and Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), Odisha will be followed strictly.

Worth mentioning, educational institutions in the State were closed since March last due to the Covid pandemic and the School & Mass Education Department had made arrangements through different means for online teaching.
