Cyclone Yaas to Hit Odisha-West Bengal Coast on May 26 Noon.

Cuttack:As per the latest update, Bhubaneswar MeT centre has predicted that very severe cyclonic storm Yaas will expectedly make landfall during May 26 noon between Paradip and Sagar islands around Balasore Earlier today, IMD DG Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said that northern Odisha is likely to bear the brunt of cyclone ‘Yaas’ and may inflict severe damages to thatched houses, asbestors roofs and even the old pucca buildings. The deep depression over east-central Bay of Bengal intensified into a cyclonic storm at 5.30 am today and is likely to hit the Odisha-West Bengal coast on May 26 noon. he further said that the cyclone, which is likely to hit the coasts between North Odisha and West Bengal on May 26 noon, big trees may get uprooted due to severe wind speed on the day of the landfall.

Odisha Govt Cancels Leave Of Staff Till May 31

 

  • The Odisha government has cancelled government holidays and leave of government employees in view of impending cyclonic storm Yaas.

    According to a notification issued by the General Administration and Public Grievance Department, the government holidays and leave of government servants have been cancelled till May 31 by the order of the Governor.

    “The IMD has informed that a low pressure area has been formed over east-central Bay of Bengal on 22nd May2021, which is likely to intensify into aVery Severe Cyclonic Storm by 24th May, 2021 and reach West Bengal & north Odisha around evening of 26th May, 2021. This cyclonic storm is likely to severely affect the coastal as well as the adjoining Districts,” the notification said.
