CMC Launches Doorstep Vaccination And Testing Drive For Elderly, Differently-Abled

Cuttack: In a welcome move, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) has started doorstep vaccination and testing service for Divyang and elderly persons of and above 70 years-old.

The service will begin from Wednesday in areas under the jurisdiction of CMC.

The Corporation took to the microblogging site Twitter to announce the decision and wrote, “Elderly people aged 70+ and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) can avail worry-free vaccination & testing facilities from tomorrow onwards.”

“Covid-19 doorstep vaccination and testing on wheels facility gets launched for easy access,” it added.

As per the CMC, the service will be available from Monday to Friday, between 10am and 3pm.

Earlier in the day, the civic body in Rourkela had also launched a door-to-door drive to vaccinate senior citizens, bed-ridden patients and differently-abled persons under its jurisdiction.

It is pertinent to mention here that, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) was the first to introduce doorstep COVID19 testing and vaccination of senior citizens. According to the civic body, senior citizens who are staying alone and cannot travel, doorstep testing services are being provided. Similarly, for vaccination, pick and drop facilities are also being provided by the civic body to senior citizens facing difficulties in visiting vaccination centers.
