Puri: Amongst the number of people’s welfare initiatives taken by Rotary International districts 3262 addressing hunger is a priority measure to give relief to the common people. State Rotary CSR Committee along with Rotarians of Puri have organized distribution of dry food packets consisting of Rice, Dal, Suji, Chuda, Sugar, Potato, Onion, Soap, Handwash, and other items amongst daily wage earners like migrant workers, hawkers, rickshaw pullers, vendors, auto drivers, hotel attendants, etc who have been hard hit by Covid19 Lock Down with their daily income getting stopped and many of them facing hunger.
While the State Government is taking steps, Rotary CSR Committee has taken up the distribution of food items to give relief to the hungry. More than One Thousand daily wage earners have been benefitted when distribution was made a week back. Today Rotary has again distributed such food packets amongst hungry and needy. Distribution of packets was made systematically and by observing social distancing. Such distribution will also be made in the coming days by the Rotary CSR committee said Tapan Kumar Chand, Chairman of the Committee. The distribution was launched by Rotary Governor Shri Debashis Mishra and Governor-elect Shree Soumya Kumar Mishra, Chairman CSR Committee Tapan Kumar Chand.
State committee member Jayashree Mohanty, President and past President of Rotary Club Puri, Rotary Club Jagannath Dham, Rotary Club Puri Shreekhetra, Rotary Club Puri Nilanchal, and Rotary Club Sagar. Such initiatives as a good Samaritan by Rotary CSR Committee have been well appreciated by all sections of the society particularly associations of daily wage earners like auto-rickshaw drivers, hawkers, hotel attendants, etc.
