Odisha Plus II exams 2020: Students to undergo body frisking

Bhubaneswar: Candidates appearing for the annual Plus II examination 2020 to be conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha beginning March 3 will be subjected to body frisking to prevent the entry of mobiles, incriminating materials, etc before entering the examination centres, informed CHSE Chairman Amarendra Kumar Patnaik.
Addressing a press here today, Patnaik said that after body frisking, in the second stage, to prevent impersonation all candidates will be checked to verify their identity and to keep watch that no incriminating material enters the exam centre.
He added that only lady invigilators will check girls and cloth/polythene enclosures may be erected for body frisking of girls.
The CHSE Chairman said that no leniency will be shown to candidates coming in hordes just before the exam to escape checking.
“As many as 1,143 examination centres and 202 Examination Management Hubs (EMHs) have been set up for the smooth conduct of the examinations,” he added.
He said that CCTVs have been installed in all the examination centres.
Patnaik stated that as many as 3,50,800 students which include all the streams Arts, Science, Commerce, and Vocational both regular and ex-regular have enrolled as candidates for the examination.
While 2,20,437 candidates will appear the Plus II 2020 exam in the Arts stream, 97,546 in Science stream, 25,785 in Commerce and 7,032 in Vocational stream.
The examination which is scheduled to commence from March 3 will conclude on March 28 and will have 20 sittings.
“If any candidate is found adopting unfair means and any employee be it a teacher or a Class IV employee is found to be involved in it, shall invite action under the Odisha Conduct of Examination Act 1988 and Indian Penal Code,” Patnaik warned.
