11th Annual Convocation of Ravenshaw University in Cuttack

Cuttack: “There should be an explosion of the particle of the almighty that lies within us,” said Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal during the 11th Annual Convocation of Ravenshaw University in Cuttack on Thursday.

Governor Lal said the explosion will lead in uniting the world. Let a person be an American, Indian or Chinese, he or she should be aware of the spark within them.

“It is all education should be, it should infuse, it should inject, it should generate, it should awaken and it should cultivate an open and tender heart to execute the feeling of oneness, the feeling of one force and the feeling of one reality,” he added.

During the convocation, Ravenshaw University conferred honorary doctorate on eminent Indian film director, lyricist and poet Gulzar, scientist Manju Sharma and ophthalmologist Dr Sujata Das.

A total of 61 gold medals were awarded in the convocation with 24 medals to undergraduate students, 31 medals to postgraduate students, two medals to the best graduate students and four medals to winners of Borasamber Senapati Debate Competition. Besides, Ph.D. degrees have been awarded to 81 scholars.

Expressing his delight on the performance of girls in the present academic year, Vice Chancellor Prof Ishan Kumar Patro said, “The women are now thoroughly empowered. There was a time when they were not allowed to study. But now they are leading and I am extremely happy about it.”
