Naik added, the Ayush ministry will soon clear its stance on Patanjali’s Coronil — an ayurvedic drug which claims to cure coronavirus infection in just seven days. While launching the medicine earlier this week, Baba Ramdev said that Coronil have shown 100% favourable results during the clinical trial on COVID-19 patients.

The corona kit by Patanjali consists of the three medicines – Coronil, Shwasari and Anu Tel. It will cost ₹545 and will have medicines for 30 days, said Acharya Balkrishna, the managing director of Patanjali Ayurved. The drug was clinically tried on 280 COVID-19 patients and 69% of them were cured within three days, Ramdev said during the launch.

Manufactured by Haridwar-based Divya Pharmacy and Patanjali Ayurved Ltd, the medicine is the result of a research partnership between Patanjali Research Institute and the Jaipur based National Institute of Medical Sciences.

Coronil is made of the extracts of pure Giloy, Tulsi and Ashwagandha. Patanjali claimed that its corona medicine kit can also be taken as prevention for coronavirus. However, this is not an immunity booster but a coronavirus cure, Ramdev said.

Naik said that documents related to the drugs and the research trial undertaken by Ramdev’s herbal medicine company were sent to the ministry on Tuesday. However, Ayush minister praised Ramdev’s initiative. “At a time when everybody is grappling for a cure for COVID-19, such an initiative is definitely good but then the due process has to be followed,” the minister said.

Patanjali Ayurved Ltd were asked to provide the details of the name and composition of the medicines being claimed for coronavirus infection treatment, information on sites or hospitals where the research study was conducted and the protocols followed,” the Ayush ministry said earlier.

“It was also asked to provide information on sample size, details of the Institutional Ethics Committee clearance, CTRI registration, results data of the study and “stop advertising/publicizing such claims till the issue is duly examined,” according to the notification by Ayush ministry.

Maharashtra government said that legal action will be initiated against Patanjali if they try to advertise or sell their drugs before getting final nod from the Ayush Ministry.

Rajasthan government also clarified today that Patanjal’s ‘Coronil and Swasari’ drug can not be not used as a medicine in the state without the permission of the Ayush ministry. “We will not give permission to Patanjali to sell their anti-corona drug in the state. We will decide once they get approval from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR),” said Raghu Sharma, Rajasthan health minister.
