Ganesh Puja To Be Celebrated Within Closed Doors In Cuttack

Cuttack: Ganesh Puja this year in Cuttack city is to be celebrated inside closed doors with no public gathering, procession or immersion of idols in view of the coronavirus pandemic, reiterated DCP Prateek Singh on Saturday.

A resolution in this regard had been adopted in the July 19 preparatory meeting, as per which there will be no rituals or ceremonies held in public. No idols will be placed in public places, clubs, mandaps or educational institutions, said Singh.

Persons interested to perform puja can do it in their homes but no one is allowed to visit such houses for puja or darshan, he added.

As soil to prepare idols of Goddess Durga is collected during the Ganesh puja, Singh said that only four people will be allowed to perform the ritual but it doesn’t mean that permission has been given for Durga puja celebrations.

There will be another preparatory meeting to discuss the strategies to be implemented during Durga puja and other festivals, he added.
