Construction of Jagatpur Chhath Puja Ghat started, BJD Aapravasi Sammukhya leader Nandlal Singh inspected the Work

Jagatpur, Cuttack: Today morning, the State Convenor of Biju Janata Dal Aapravasi Sammukhya, Nandlal Singh, inspected the construction work of Chhath Puja Ghat at Jagatpur. He was accompanied by the members of the Mahanadi Chhath Puja Committee along with it’s President Puranjan Singh and Secretary Chandan Singh.

Last year before the General Elections of 2019, on the request of the Chhath devotees who worshiped at this Ghat, the foundation stone was laid by former MLA Shri Prabhat Ranjan Bishwal, on behalf of the Odisha government. BJD Aapravasi Sammukhya leader Nandlal Singh had assured the Chhath Puja committee at the time of the last Chhath Puja that he will follow up with the Government for this work and the construction of the Ghat will be completed by the time of the coming Chhath Puja. On the commencement of the work, he thanked Honourable Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik and Former MLA Pravat Ranjan Biswal for their love and affection for the Aapravasi Samaj.

Chhath Parv, Chhath or Shashthi Puja is a Hindu festival celebrated on the Shashthi of Kartik Shukla Paksha. This unique folk festival of Surya Upasana is mainly celebrated in Bihar, Jharkhand, Eastern Uttar Pradesh and the Tarai region of Nepal. It is said that this festival is the biggest festival of Biharis and this is their culture. Chhath festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm all over India including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh. This is the only festival of entire India that has been going on since Vedic period. This holy festival of Chhath is celebrated with great reverence and grandeur by the people of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and other provinces living in Odisha.
